STILL no call! (See posts from a few days ago). I called the other day, and didn’t get a return. I guess it’s not happening. Back to the drawing board!

The Protocols of Zion — Marc Levin
Had a great night last night. I went to the Chicago Film Festival to reconnect with Marc Levin, friend and filmmaker extraordinaire. He was gracious enough to hire me to be a Field Producer on “Godfathers and Sons,” his segment of Scorsese’s The Blues.
Last night, he screened The Protocols of Zion, his latest controversial documentary which made its debut at Sundance.
Although Marc is a friend, I can give an unbiased endorsement.
Filmed post-911, while the smoke was still emanating from Ground Zero, Protocols is Marc’s personal journey through the examination of contemporary anti-Semitism, specifically as it relates to an erroneous piece of work titled “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” which outlines the alleged blueprint for the Jews to take over the world. Although there’s no evidence of the truth to this manuscript, it’s a bestseller among skinheads.
The film sounds heavy, and it is in a way, however there are a lot of hilarious moments. This is Marc’s first documentary where he appears on camera, and his facial expressions are priceless. I would say the film is moving and thought-provoking. One for the collection.
Check out Marc’s blog.
It’s screening again tonight (Tuesday) at Landmark Theater (Century Mall), at 7:00. If you can’t make it, you’ll have to wait until later this month when it officially releases.
Long time, no blog
And I don’t really have an excuse. It isn’t as though my weekend was extremely eventful. The highlight was the purchase of my space heater.
Seriously, I get so damned sick and tired of Chicago weather sometimes that I demand one calendar month where I’m not using either air conditioner or heating. If automotive gas prices are so high, I’m not anxious to see what my heating bills will look like. My demands, however, are rarely met my mother nature. It was freezing last week . . .
Disclaimer: I’m one of those “cold” people. I’m ALWAYS cold. I wear a heavy sweater in the office, even in the summer, and my body temperature is normally about 97.1. The weird thing is that I fall asleep in cold rooms, which makes me a really charming person in meetings. I’m reptilian and I know it. What is the saying . . . cold hands, warm heart? Not sure if it applies here, but I’ll take it.
. . . so I decided that, instead of unnecessarily jacking up my gas bill, I’d invest about $30 in a space heater. It’s my new best friend.
