SuperBowl Sunday?
Someone asked me what I was doing this Sunday and I said “I dunno. Going shopping and getting my nails done, probably.”
I was violently reminded that this is SUPERBOWL Sunday, and that I absolutely have to make plans.
Do I really?
Last year, I was dating someone around SuperBowl, and we had a really fun day. The NEXT day, however, there was a terrible incident that caused a breakup, so SuperBowl Sunday isn’t exactly my fave memory this year.
I think of SuperBowl as the day of my oblivion, and the next day as the awakening. Too symbolic? Definitely. Appropriate? Hell, yeah!
But . . . I don’t want to talk about that.
I’d rather discuss the movie that I’m definitely going to see this weekend, which is “Something New” starring Sanaa Lathan. It’s the film where she starts dating a white man. FINALLY there’s a film that focuses on the issues of black women dating white boys. As an ‘equal opportunity dater’ who has a lot of friends who only date black men, I will find it interesting to see how the relationship is handled in the screenplay.
And . . . Valentine’s Day is coming up. Who’s doing what?
