It’s Friday

We all know why Friday’s my fave day . . . it’s the end of the week, it’s column day, and it’s garbage day! Yay!

And again, I have a ridiculously overscheduled weekend, as usual. Tonight, there’s book club chez moi, after which I think I’m going to see my dad play somewhere. Saturday, I’m unaccounted for for a good percentage of the day — but only because I have articles to work on. During the evening, I’m hanging out with Lisa, who will be in town for an Expo.

Then, it’s my godson’s birthday on Sunday. He turns 6. I have no idea of how that happened. I can finally understand what parents mean when they say that they miss the kids when they were little. He was the only two-year-old I’ve ever been able to deal with for stretches of time because he was a good, quiet kid (I LOVE quiet kids). Now he’s 5 (almost 6), and he’s all over the place. Still cute, though.

We’re going to Medieval Times, which is a place in Schaumburg that is centered around jousting and violent boy-stuff. His 9-y-o sister and I will probably sit together and look at the cute jousters. Her father will likely kill me for instilling boy-crazy behavior, but oh well. I told them that choosing me as a godmother was the ultimate bad decision, but they didn’t listen.

Back to Medieval Times — we have to check in at 11:30 for a show that starts at 1:00! WTF??? What the hell are we going to do with 4 5-year-olds and a 9-year-old for the 1.5 hours before the show starts. I don’t think they serve drinks, so I’m particularly screwed.

We’re going to pay an extra $20 for him to be knighted, which will give him bragging rights for months. I hope he doesn’t expect me to call him ‘Sir Christopher.’ It ain’t happenin’!

Sunday night is Oscar night. Okay . . . who do you guys think is going to win. Don’t be shy.
